6) Return to Jerusalem

Driving into Jerusalem we are welcomed by a double rainbow and snow. Back to our home away from home, our Dan Boutique hotel is opposite the favourite hangout - the converted trendy "First Station" that was the first Jerusalem train station 120 years ago. The old railway tracks are still there, and now there are restaurants and shops and an urban forest walking-track winding alongside it. It has the industrial, upcycled, creative style prevalent throughout the world. It's a site for cultural events and festivals.

It's Nadav and Jessie's 4th wedding anniversary. Before celebrating that, we have a beautiful ritual with songs, good wishes and blessings for one who receives her new Hebrew name.

Who should come into our meditation room other than Dr Michael G. called to attend to a participant down with the flu. Michael is a close friend of my brother Ian with whom he swatted for medical exams at our home during the late 1960s.
Michael had just yesterday spoken to Ian (in Melbourne) on the phone.

We reminisce about our youth, our life journeys and agree about our admiration and love for Ian. Michael checks the symptoms of my cold and prescribes for me: a visit to the Shook - Mahane Yehudah market - right now, he says, before it closes for Shabbath and yes, go in the snow. The visit to the shook in the snow on crazy Shabbath is exhilarating! See next post. Meanwhile . . .

Kabbalah Shabbath with Nava Tehila musicians and Rabbi Ruth Kagan.

At the shook I buy flowers and fresh pastries to take to oneg Shabbath singalong and dinner at Ruth and Michael Kagan's home that's walking distance from our hotel. Because it's Shabbath I can't take photos of the openness, ambience, hospitality and musicality. There's just this picture of the snow-covered street when we leave.
